Per Washington Youth Soccer, in-person Premier and Select Tryouts are cancelled due to current circumstances surrounding the coronavirus outbreak.
Tryouts will be replaced by the following process in accordance with Washington Youth Soccer (WYS) and Regional Club League (RCL) guidelines. Valor Soccer will adhere to this process for both the Premier and Select programs. This process does not apply to the U16-U19 "High School" boys age groups who already completed their tryouts in February.
As you know, Governor Inslee extended Washington State’s stay-at-home order through May 4th. Since we cannot have in-person tryouts (“Plan A”) in late April/early May, we are implementing an alternative player placement program (“Plan B”). It appears very unlikely we will have any in-person tryouts in late April or early May.
Plan B is being offered due to the stay-at-home restrictions (including school closures) and lack of facilities for holding tryouts at each RCL club.
Plan B replaces Plan A (the regular in-person tryout).
Current Club Player Registration:
Club player registration can begin May 1st and not before this date.
This opportunity provides each player a place in their current RCL club. The registering player can ONLY be: a player who was registered in your club for the 2019-20 season, US Club players, USDA players, non-registered players or players within your own rec/select club association.
If a player registers for a club's tryouts (and the player was with another RCL club for the 2019-2020 season)...the “new” club (a coach, a director, an administrator or board member) is allowed to communicate with the player/player’s family BUT not offer an opportunity to register until May 5th. This communication between the player and the player’s family with the club is allowed because the player and the player’s family did their own research and diligence on the club prior to registering.
May 5th Registration
Players who were previously registered with another RCL club last season may be offered a place and may register beginning on May 5th BUT not before this date. There is no final deadline for registration.
Established RCL Recruiting Guidelines are in place (i.e., an RCL club’s representatives - Coaches/Directors/Administrators/Board Members cannot contact players unless the potential player/family initiates the communication with the club). It is important that a club has evidence showing that the player’s tryout registration was previously accepted to avoid any potential recruiting violations from being raised by another club or by Washington Youth Soccer.
Plan B Infractions: We need full cooperation of each RCL club. If you believe an infraction has occurred, please provide documentation (i.e., electronic copy of registration) before contacting Commissioner Paul Bayly. Unsubstantiated claims (“heresay”) will not be considered.
Valor Soccer is accepting new and returning players for the new 2020/21 Playing Cycle.
For the 2020/21 Playing Cycle, the Competitive Path is available to the U9-U19 age groups, which includes birth years 2002-2012 (see Age Group Chart). Players born in 2013 (or later) may request to be evaluated to play up.
Tryouts/Team Placement will be very different this year, and we are here to help you through it! If you have any questions about the new Tryouts/Team Placement process or the upcoming Premier and Select Playing Cycle, please utilize the following resources:
